National Neurosurgical Quality Outcomes Database
Atlantic Neurosurgical Specialists (ANS) is one of several leading neurosurgical groups that are taking part in the National Neurosurgical Quality Outcomes Database (QOD), a national clinical registry sponsored by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. The primary objective of this project is to assess the benefits of neurosurgery and to determine to what extent surgery improves pain, disability and quality of life. We are gathering information regarding the care of individual patients and will then use this information to identify areas of clinical practice in which to focus quality improvement efforts.
We are asking for your participation prior to your surgery. If you have scheduled a lumbar spine, cervical spine, or cerebrovascular surgery, please print and complete the “Baseline Questionnaire” for your respective surgery, and bring it to the office. We will contact you by phone the week prior to your surgery if we do not receive your completed forms. We will contact you again 3 months after surgery and one final time 12 months after surgery by phone to ask you about your pain level and quality of life. If you are coming into the office for a 3- month or 12-month follow-up appointment, please print and complete the follow-up packet, and bring it to the office. Your answers are valuable in helping us improve our services. With that said, your participation in this project is voluntary. Whether or not you choose to participate will not affect your medical care, surgery or follow up in any way.
All data collected in this process is strictly confidential and handled according to federal guidelines for the protection of personal healthcare information.
We look forward to working with you, our patient, to more accurately assess your response to treatments, improve the high level of quality care we strive to provide here at Atlantic Neurosurgical Specialists and contribute to the advance of neurosurgical care on a national level.
